TOPIC:

WHERE DO YOU GO FROM HERE?

MEMORISE

In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you (John 14:2).

READ:

John 14:2-5

[2]. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

[3]. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

[4]. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

[5]. Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

EXPOSITION

Our citizenship is in heaven (Php. 3:20). The earth is like a marketplace in which you must return home at the end of the day, no matter how much you toil and tarry. It is like a company warehouse teeming with activity. We sometimes work and get tired of little pay. However, whether happy or not, everyone goes home at the end of the day's work. You will undoubtedly feel rejuvenated when you return home after a long day's work. Christians don't have an enduring city here on earth. Jesus promises to take us to His Father's house, which will be large enough to accommodate all who want to go with Him. We will be with the Lord in His kingdom very soon.

According to our text, our Lord Jesus was returning to His heavenly Father in His heavenly home. Yet, Thomas asked, Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way? (Jn. 14:5). If the people around Jesus did not know where He was going. He was pretty sure: I am going to the Father. (v. 28); In My Father's house are many mansions (Jn. 14:2). He is able to return to His Father because, He is one with Him, in spite of the troubles He faced in the world. Our labour will one day end here. Do you have the confidence like Jesus to say, "I go to My Father"? Be informed that, heaven is a place of rest for everyone who knows and serves the Father here, including the martyrs. Don't allow yourself to be deprived of the bliss of heaven by these ephemeral worldly pleasures.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:

CAC GHB: 969

1. When ends earth's long and evil day

This world of mis'ry and of woes

There is a place so bright

No change or decay there to find

No night, but all eternal day

Tell me, will you be there?

2. Its pearly gates are clos'd to sin

No unclean thing shall enter in

To spoil the place so bright,

 That happy, shining golden shore,

No curse will ever there be found,

Tell me, will you be there?

3. Who will be there the lowly heart?

Who served the Lord in godly fear

Who count the world but loss

Those led by the Holy Spirit

Those who walk in the narrow way,

They are those to be there.

Amen.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord! Help me to constantly remember our heavenly home.
